HEALTH - Medical Aid to Romanian Children's Hospitals Between 1991 and 1998, many tonnes of medical equipment and consumables were sent to Clinica Pediatrie I ‘Axente Iancu’, Cluj-Napoca. Equipment included sphygmo-manometers, infusion pumps, glucometers, anaesthetic units. Pharmaceuticals suitable for children, dressings, and surgical instruments were also delivered. Since 1997, the CSEF has maintained a computerised Drugs and Poisons Advice Bureau at the hospital. This was made possible by the continued support of Micromedex, Inc, who kindly supply the essential databases. Supporting Primary Healthcare in Romania Considerable quantities of medical items especially for elderly patients have been delivered to GP practices in Cluj-Napoca since 1993. Wheelchairs, walking frames, a portable cardiac monitor and glucometers were included, together with pharmaceuticals and general medical consumables. Batches have also been sent to rural GP practices in the Bistrita and Poiana Blenchii areas.
